Toastie Mania at The Royal Highland Show 2009

Visitors to the Royal Highland Show just can't get enough of our cheese toasties. Tens of thousands of the legendary snack, made with Scottish Pride cheddar, are being snapped up by visitors to the Scottish Pride stand at the show.

Morag, our Scottish Pride giant inflatable cow, has been tempting members of the public into the stand to sample the favourite teatime treat. At times, there have even been queues around the block as people wait for the toasties to pop!

“We gave away more than 20,000 samples of Scottish Pride cheddar toastie during last year’s show but we are certainly on course to smash that record, “ said Graham Sheach, brand controller for our Scottish Pride Family Cheddar.

Scottish Pride Family Cheddar is made with 100% guaranteed Scottish milk from our First Milk farmers throughout Scotland.

New... Scottish Pride Lighter

Scottish Pride is moving into the reduced-fat cheese market with the launch of Scottish Pride Lighter.

Guaranteed to be made with 100% Scottish milk sourced from our members farms, Scottish Pride Lighter is the only Scottish coloured origin lighter brand in the sector. With its everyday appeal, the cheese is being targeted at the all-important family market.

While the latest product contains 30% less fat than standard Scottish Pride, our cheese makers have refused to compromise on taste and have developed a recipe which meets both exacting requirements.

“There is an increasing shift in consumer attitudes towards healthy eating and it is important that we meet those demands,” explained Richard Hollingdale, sales and marketing director for our cheese business.

“Yet the cheese must have a flavour and taste that consumers enjoy, so we’ve worked hard to ensure we’ve got the right depth of taste,” added Richard.

More than 20,000 cheese toasties were given away by Scottish Pride over the four days - and those consumers who loved the taste also led to us selling more Scottish Pride than ever before at the show.

There was a range of Scottish Pride activities to attract that all-important family market.
